オーストラリア 大陸 鉄道の旅

私は滞在中にやってみたいことがある。オーストラリア大陸横断鉄道の旅だ。調べると、大陸横断鉄道(The Indian and Pacific シドニー－アデレード－パース 間)、の料金は、 Gold Service 寝台 2080豪ドル 、Red Service 寝台1460豪ドル 、Daynighter Seat座席　 755豪ドル と結構高い。 さらに、調べてみると、オーストラリアにも日本Japan Rail Pass やヨーロッパのEurail passに相当する乗り放題の周遊チケットがあった。

長距離鉄道会社はCountryLink、Great Southern Rail、Queensland Railと３社あり、使える路線がチケットにより異なる。大陸全体をカバーしているのがAusrail Passである。いろいろ行くことができるが、料金が高い。大陸東北部を除いて広範囲に行くことができて、料金も低めなのがRail Explorer Pass　 ３ヶ月　$450.00である。2011年7月の豪ドル為替レートは84円～90円くらいだから87円として39,150円。 行くことが可能な主要都市は、パース、カルグーリー、アデレード、ブロークンヒル、シドニー、 メルボルン、アリス・スプリングス(ウルル/エアーズ・ロックへのゲートウェイ)とダーウィンなど。 そして、このチケットの目玉は大陸横断鉄道、The Indian and Pacific (シドニー－アデレード－パース 間)、The Overland ( アデレード－メルボルン 間)と大陸縦断鉄道　The Ghan　( ダーウィン－アデレード間)に乗車可能なのだ。ブリスベーン、ケアンズ方面は行くことができないが、料金も安いのに惹かれる。大陸を鉄道旅行したいと思う方にはおすすめのチケットと思う。私はRail Explorer Pass ３か月を使ってみようと思っている。
